Paul is a solicitor and building surveyor.
He leads the University’s Professional Doctorate in the Built Environment which provides a part-time route for property and construction professionals to study for a doctorate.
He is director of the CIB Law and Dispute Resolution Working Commission and editor of the International Journal of Law in the Built Environment.
His many publications include The Party Wall Casebook, the bestselling student textbook, Law and the Built Environment and a number of award-winning peer-reviewed articles on the role of expert evidence in rights to light litigation.
He serves on the editorial boards of Structural Survey journal and the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Journal of Legal Affairs and Dispute Resolution in Engineering and Construction.
He has personally supervised a number of successful doctoral research projects in the law relating to the built environment and welcomes enquiries from potential doctoral candidates in these areas.
