SURFACE Inclusive Design Research Centre
Inclusive design is a way of designing products and places so they are useable and appealing to everyone regardless of age, ability or circumstance. The centre's work is underpinned by the social model of disability that includes the design and use of:
- Homes - both the building itself and the technology within the home;
- Public buildings;
- Workplace environments;
- External environments - particularly urban and rural neighbourhoods;
- People's experience of using these environments;
- The development and writing of policy and practice to support inclusive design
